- `GET https://freshgoldprice.com/api/prices?country=saudi-arabia` — single country. Sliced from the same all-countries cache, so values are always identical to what the homepage shows. Includes `pricing` block (`importDuty`, `vat`, `dealerMargin`, `correctionFactor`, `effectiveDate`, `source`), `meta` block (`xauUsd`, `xagUsd`, `goldSilverRatio`, `fxRate`, `benchmark: {primary, source, asOf, model}`), and `history` arrays (`history.gold[].{date, k21}` and `history.silver[].{date, silverPerGram}` in local currency for charting). Gold and silver karat/purity entries include a `change` field (% delta vs prior day, omitted on first day — never hardcoded `0`). Nepal uses a specific-duty schema (flat 200 NPR/g of 24K gold) that dynamically resolves to an effective ad-valorem rate at the current spot price. Nine countries use a local exchange benchmark instead of LBMA: India (MCX), China/HK/Taiwan (SGE), Turkey (BIST), UAE (DGJG), Vietnam (SJC — captures the 5–25% state-monopoly premium), Iran (TGJU — uses parallel-market FX rate, not the official rate), Pakistan (KSB Karachi Sarafa Bazaar); `meta.benchmark.model` is `"exchange-direct"` or `"lbma-computed"`.
- `GET https://freshgoldprice.com/api/prices/health` — extended health check endpoint. Returns `{ok, checks: {kv, xauSpot, xagSpot, fx, benchmarks, worldSpotValidation, countryPriceValidation: {verified, degraded, unmonitored, alarms}, silver, countryCount}, lastEvents, updatedAt}`. HTTP 200 when all checks pass; 503 on critical alarms (e.g. world-spot disagreement >2%, all FX sources down). Point uptime monitors at this URL.

## How Prices Are Calculated

Retail price formula (compounded): `(spot_USD/oz ÷ 31.1035) × fxRate × karatRatio × (1 + importDuty) × (1 + vat) × (1 + dealerMargin) × correctionFactor`. For exchange-direct countries the local exchange price replaces the spot × FX term. `correctionFactor` (default 1.0) closes the residual gap between theoretical markup and observed retail; configured per-country per-metal in `data/pricing-config.json`. Specific (per-gram) duties resolve dynamically to an effective rate at the current spot price.

**Country-class source matrix:** Spot-aligned countries (US, UK, EU, Japan, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Singapore) use GoldAPI.io validated against LBMA PM fix. Exchange-driven countries use local-exchange benchmarks (MCX for India, SGE for China/HK/TW, BIST for Turkey, DGJG for UAE, SJC for Vietnam, TGJU for Iran, KSB for Pakistan). Retail-jewelry markets (16 GCC/MENA) use LBMA-computed prices with benchmark adjustments from observed retail. GCC pegs (SAR, AED, QAR, BHD, OMR, JOD) are stored in config with `lastVerified` stamps; FX uses a 3-tier redundancy cascade: open.er-api.com → api.frankfurter.dev (ECB-backed fallback) → KV cache (`fx:lastGood`, 72h limit).

**Two-loop daily validation (15:00 UTC):** Loop A cross-validates world spot between GoldAPI and LBMA PM fix (≤0.5% = agree; >2% = disagreement, serving path switches to last agreed world-spot and sets `spotMeta.degraded=true`). Loop B compares per-country KV prices against live retail sources from `data/calibration-sources.json` and writes observations to KV; diffPct >2% raises an alarm visible in `/api/prices/health`.

Source data: GoldAPI.io for XAU/USD and XAG/USD spot. Country tax/duty/margin rates sourced from official government publications and stored in `data/pricing-config.json`. Updated when tax law changes.

## Contact

Visitors can send messages, country requests, and feedback via an in-page contact form accessible from every page footer. No public listing endpoint. Owner reads submissions via a token-authenticated admin API at `/api/contact/admin`.
